OUR NEW PROJECT
You might know The Red Hart from it's glory days. For every generation we've talked to that always seems to fall at about the time they were 18 or so and first pretending that beer is their favourite new drink.
If you remember it from then, you'll know that it was the life of the town. You would go out there on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night and not even have to ask your mates if they were going too. There was no question.
The Red Hart is a legendary venue in Hitchin with a history that stretches back to 1550, with infamous status as the supposed site of the last hanging in Hitchin. We want to bring back some of what made this place so special. Sans underage drinking and questionable smoke arising from the rear courtyard. Sans apple sourz and sticky floors. We prefer great beer, the best pub food you can hope to get, and above all a killer atmosphere.
For a long time we've relished the opportunity to provide Hitchin with great quality, seasonal cuisine in a contemporary setting. This is our chance to show you what we can do when it comes to a fully-fledged restaurant. Kite will be a 40-seater dining space on the lower ground floor of The Red Hart, showcasing the best of British produce that we love to eat.
THE RED HART
The Red Hart is iconic in Hitchin and it is unarguably a pub through and through. Whilst we will have our restaurant space, it's tucked away so you can enjoy the rest of this fantastic 500-year old building for decent craft beer and classic bar snacks throughout the week. The beer garden is being completely renovated as well, making for what he hope will be the perfect all-season pub.
